First, go to the PTR 15 product page on the Datavideo official website. In the Product Download section, locate the Camera Compatible List to confirm whether the PTR 15 is compatible with your camera and whether a ZEK 1 or ZEK 2 is required to control the zoom function.
Next, check the power supply voltage on the upper panel. If the camera requires 24V power, in addition to switching the voltage selector on the upper panel, you also need to enter the PTR 15 menu, and go to System, Power Out Limit to unlock the high voltage output.
The next step is to confirm the control protocol used by the camera and connect the camera's control interface from the PTR 15's remote port.
If you plan to control the camera over the network, connect the camera to the LAN port on the upper panel of the PTR 15 using an Ethernet cable, and connect the LAN port on the lower panel to a router. Then go to the PTR 15 menu, Remote Control, Set Remote Out, Remote Out Mode, and select the control protocol that matches the camera you are using.
If a ZEK 1 or ZEK 2 is installed, use the 4 pin mini DIN control cable included with the ZEK product to connect it to the Zoom Sensor interface. Then go to the Set Motor menu and set both Pan and Tilt Acceleration and Pan and Tilt Speed to Auto. After that, go to Remote Control, Set Remote Out in the menu and set the Zoom Encode Mode according to the installed ZEK model.
For the video connection, connect the camera’s video output to the SDI or HDMI input on the upper panel of the PTR 15. SDI and HDMI can be connected at the same time. Please note that the PTR 15 does not include a converter function and only supports SDI In to SDI Out and HDMI In to HDMI Out.
Now let’s look at the lower panel. Choose the interface according to the control method you plan to use.
If you are using Visca RS 232 and 422 control, for example with the Datavideo RMC 180 Mark two, connect the RS 422 In interface of the PTR 15 to the RMC 180 Mark two using an Ethernet cable. Then go to the menu Remote Control, Set RS422 and confirm that the baud rate matches the camera.
Visca RS 422 can also be connected to the RMC 300A. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the RS 422 In interface of the PTR 15 to RS 422 ports 1 through 8 on the RMC 300A, then enter the RMC 300A menu, System and enable the Serial Ports function.
If you want to use DVIP control, for example with the Datavideo RMC 300A, first connect the DVIP interface of the PTR 15 to a router, and connect the RMC 300A to the DVIP interface. Then go to the PTR 15 menu Remote Control, Set DVIP and choose either DHCP or Static IP connection. If you choose Static IP, enter the PTR 15 IP address under Set Ethernet IP.
After confirming the PTR 15 IP address, refer to the RMC 300A tutorial video and complete the PTR 15 connection from the RMC 300A side.
This concludes the instructions for connecting the PTR 15 to a camera and controller.
