Transcript

The HS-1400 has four control sections: switcher control, camera control, Audio Mixer control, and recording and streaming control.
Starting with the switcher control section.
The Menu zone handles opening and navigating the on-screen menu located in the lower right corner of the screen. Pressing the Menu key opens the on-screen menu, the Enter key confirms a selection, and the four directional keys navigate options and adjust values.
In the Transition zone, the top row of three buttons changes the transition type. In the bottom row, REV. enables the reverse function for Wipe transitions. Grab captures the current PGM frame as a still image and saves it to an external USB device or SD card; if no external storage is connected, the image will be saved to the HS-1400's internal memory. Speed adjusts the duration of automatic transitions — the current value can be checked in the status panel on screen, and each press of the button increases the duration by 0.5 seconds.
The Keyer zone enables and disables the Chroma, Luma, and PIP 1 and 2 layers. The Downstream key zone enables and disables the Logo 1, Logo 2, and Downstream key layers. The User zone quickly recalls user memories 1 through 3.
Looking at the upper left area — Power is the on/off switch for the unit's built-in screen. Mute silences the HS-1400's built-in speaker. Volume adjusts the speaker volume. Vertical enables the vertical multiviewer layout on the built-in screen. Auxiliary switches the screen to display Input 1 through 4, Media, or Still individually. To return to the split-screen multiviewer view, simply press the MV button on the left. Blue enables Blue Only mode on the built-in screen. Play/Pause plays and pauses Media playback. Prev and Next select the Media content to play.
Finally, on the left side of the unit, the knob controls the monitoring headphone volume, and the Mute button below it silences the headphone output.
Moving on to camera control.
The HS-1400 supports control of up to four cameras, with two connection methods available: RS-232/422 and DVIP. The following uses Datavideo's PTC-305 as a connection example.
For RS-422, simply connect the RS-422 port on the HS-1400 to the RS-422 port on the PTC-305 — the connection is plug-and-play. For DVIP, first confirm that both the HS-1400 and the PTC-305 have DHCP mode enabled. Prepare a router and connect both the HS-1400's DVIP port and the PTC-305's DVIP port to it, ensuring both devices are on the same network. Then enter the PTC-305's OSD and take note of its IP address. Next, open the HS-1400's menu, navigate to the Camera page, and select CAM 1 if you wish to assign the PTC-305 to that position. Scroll down to Search — the system will begin scanning for devices on the same network. Once the PTC-305's IP address is found, press Enter to complete the camera connection.
Returning to the front panel — once the HS-1400 is connected to up to four cameras, you can select which camera to control from here.
In the bottom row, the two buttons on the left are the camera power on/off switch and the button to open the camera's OSD respectively. Once the camera OSD is open, it is navigated using the directional keys in the Menu zone.
The two buttons on the right side of the bottom row are for saving and deleting camera Presets. These buttons are only active when the camera's Auto-Tracking function is disabled, or when the camera does not support Auto-Tracking.
Below these, the three Camera Speed buttons control the Pan and Tilt speed of the camera. The Lock button on the right locks the Pan, Tilt, and Zoom functions to prevent accidental input.
Now for saving, recalling, and deleting camera Presets.
First, check the color of the AT key — red indicates that Auto-Tracking is active, and Presets cannot be configured in this state. Blue indicates that Auto-Tracking is disabled, and white indicates that the camera does not support tracking. Presets can be configured when the AT key is either blue or white.
To save a Preset, press the Store Preset key, then use the numeric keys on the right to enter the desired position number, and press Enter to complete the save.
To recall a Preset, the method varies depending on the Preset number. For Presets 1 through 9, simply press the corresponding numeric key and wait briefly — there is no need to press Call or Enter. For Presets numbered 10 and above, press the Call key first, then enter the number, and press Enter.
To delete a Preset, the procedure is the same as saving — press the Delete Preset key, enter the position number using the numeric keys, and press Enter to complete the deletion.
Now for the Auto-Tracking controls.
First confirm the color of the AT key — red indicates that Auto-Tracking is active, and only in this state will the buttons below switch to Auto-Tracking control mode. The top three buttons control the framing size of the tracked subject: full body, knee-up, and chest-up. The middle three buttons control the subject's position within the frame: left, center, and right. The bottom three buttons adjust the camera's Pan, Tilt, and Zoom speeds during tracking, and should be selected according to the movement speed of the subject being tracked.
Moving on to White Balance, Gain, and Shutter.
Pressing the Auto White Balance button activates automatic white balance. Pressing the white balance knob cycles through the available white balance modes. In manual white balance mode, the R/B Gain knobs can be used to adjust white balance manually, and the Reset R/B Gain button below resets the R/B Gain values. One Push triggers the one-push white balance function. Rotating the Shutter knob activates manual shutter control, and pressing the Auto SHUT. button enables automatic shutter mode.
Finally, for focus and iris — rotating either knob activates manual control, and pressing the corresponding button enables automatic mode.
Moving to the Audio Mixer control section.
The audio controls are divided into three groups: the left side handles the two XLR inputs and the RCA input from the rear panel; the center handles the four HDMI or SDI inputs; and the far right controls the PGM output volume.
The positions of the knobs and buttons correspond to the status panel displayed on screen. HP and SPK in the status panel represent the monitoring headphone output and the built-in speaker respectively.
On the unit itself, the buttons are channel on/off switches and the knobs control volume levels. When a button is lit white, the channel is off, and the corresponding volume meter in the status panel will appear black.
For Inputs 1 through 4, there is a third state in addition to On and Off — Audio Follow Video. In the Audio Follow Video state, the button indicator is also red, so this state can only be distinguished by checking the status panel.
Finally, for recording and streaming — the Bitrate key cycles through three quality settings: high, medium, and low. The specific bitrate values for each setting can be viewed and modified in the menu under Media > Record or Push Stream. Record starts and stops recording; the destination for recorded files — either an SD card or an external USB device — can be set in the menu. Stream starts and stops the live stream; the streaming destination must be configured in the Web UI. Please also note that the maximum supported memory card capacity for the HS-1400 is 512GB.
This concludes the front panel operation guide for the HS-1400.
