The ProTrack Control 100 supports two methods of camera connection: serial control connection and IP control connection.
We'll begin with the serial control connection procedure. First, use a ethernet cable to connect the RS-232/422 port on the ProTrack Control 100 to the RS-232/422 port on the PTC camera. Once the hardware cabling is complete, navigate to Settings > Hot Key, then enter each of the Cam 1 through 4 submenus to confirm that the communication protocol is set to VISCA. Once verified, simply press the corresponding Cam 1 through 4 button on the front panel to take control of the assigned camera.
Please note that when cameras are connected via serial control, the Live View function cannot be used to monitor the camera's live feed.
Next, we'll cover the IP control connection procedure, which consists of two steps: building the device list, and assigning cameras.
Begin by connecting the IP port on the ProTrack Control 100 to a PoE switch with DHCP capability using a ethernet cable. Then open the menu, go to the Network tab, and confirm that DHCP is enabled. Return to Settings and run Device Search. The system will begin scanning for all cameras on the same network, and the results will be organized in the menu by communication protocol. Once you locate the target camera in the relevant category, select Save. A save number will appear, indicating the camera's assigned index in the device list — cameras are numbered sequentially starting from 1 in the order they are added. Press Enter to complete the process of adding the camera to the device list.
After adding cameras, it is recommended to go to Device Management > Device List to verify that the list is correct.
With the device list complete, you can now assign cameras from the list as Cam 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the ProTrack Control 100.
Open the menu and navigate to the Hot Key tab. Enter the Cam 1 submenu and scroll down to Select from List to open the device list. Select the camera you wish to assign as Cam 1 and press Enter to confirm. The assignment is now complete. Return to the Cam 1 page and you will see the information for the newly assigned camera. Repeat this process to assign or change the cameras for Cam 2, 3, and 4.
Once Cam 1 through 4 have been assigned, pressing the corresponding Cam buttons on the front panel will display the assigned camera's information on the monitor and allow you to take control of that camera.
In addition to assigning cameras to Cam 1 through 4, there is another method for controlling cameras in the device list — the Call Cam function. This allows you to directly control any camera in the device list without changing the current Cam 1 through 4 assignments.
There are two ways to use this function. The first is to open the device list, select the camera you wish to control, choose Fast Call Device, and press Enter. The screen will then display the information for the called camera.
The second method is to press the symbol input key, enter the device list index number of the camera you wish to call, and then press Enter to bring up that camera.
Please note that cameras accessed via the Call Cam function do not support Auto-Tracking.
Finally, it is worth noting that serial control and IP control can be used simultaneously. For example, if cameras are already connected to RS-232/422 ports 1 and 2, and the IP port is connected to a PoE switch with cameras already added to the device list, then Cam 1 and 2 will correspond to the cameras on RS-232/422 ports 1 and 2, while Cam 3 and 4 can be assigned to any camera in the device list. It is also possible to reassign Cam 1 and 2 to any camera in the device list, which will override the cameras physically connected to RS-232/422 ports 1 and 2.
This concludes the camera connection methods for the ProTrack Control 100.
