What you will learn

The course is suited for broadcast technicians, AV system operators, live production engineers, and studio technical staff who are responsible for setting up, configuring, and operating PTZ camera control systems in professional broadcast or live production environments.

Background knowledge, skills and tools needed for this course

Learners would benefit from a foundational understanding of the following: basic broadcast or AV system operations, familiarity with PTZ camera concepts (Pan, Tilt, Zoom), basic network knowledge such as IP addressing, DHCP, and PoE, and general familiarity with serial communication protocols such as RS-232/422. Knowledge of camera exposure settings — including iris, gain, shutter, and white balance — would also be advantageous.

Who is suitable for this course

Upon completing the course, participants will be able to identify and operate all physical controls on the ProTrack Control 100, including front panel buttons, knobs, joystick, and rocker switch. They will know how to connect cameras via both serial (RS-232/422) and IP control methods, build and manage a device list, and assign cameras to CAM 1 through 4. They will also be able to navigate the on-screen menu and LCD display, adjust image parameters such as focus, iris, gain, shutter, and white balance, configure and use the Auto-Tracking function, and access and operate the Web UI for remote configuration and management.
