As the core of the Automated Voice-Tracking Solution, Voice tracks 50 works alongside a switcher, cameras, a USB mixer, and microphones, as well as streaming tools and monitoring or recording gear.
The system supports a variety of switchers, including the iCAST 10NDI MKII, SE-2600MU, SE-3200MU, SE-4000MU, SE-1200MU, and SE-650. For cameras, the 4K options feature the PTC-325, 305, and 285, while the PTC-145 and VTC-100 are recommended for HD setups. Regarding the USB mixer, it is essential to use a model with Multitrack capabilities.
In this specific example, we are using the SE-2600MU switcher, PTC-145 cameras, the NVS-35 for streaming, the TLM-102K for live monitoring, and the HDR-2 as our recorder. For the audio interface, we have chosen the RODE RODECaster Pro 2. We will use this gear to demonstrate how to build a three-camera Automated Voice-Tracking switching system.
Let’s start with the hardware wiring. For the control side, use a POE+ Switch to link the LAN ports of the Voice tracks 50, the SE-2600MU, and all three PTC-145 units. For the video inputs, run SDI cables from the three PTC-145 cameras into SDI inputs 1, 2, and 3 on the SE-2600MU.
Moving to audio, plug microphones 1, 2, 3 into inputs 1, 2, 3 of the USB mixer. Then, connect the mixer to the SE-2600MU via mini XLR and link it to the Voice tracks 50 using a USB cable. Finally, let’s look at the outputs. Use HDMI cables to connect the recorder and the on-site TV, and an SDI cable for the NVS-35. Since the TLM-102K features dual screens, use one HDMI and one SDI cable to connect it, allowing you to monitor both the Multiview and PGM simultaneously. This completes the hardware setup for the Voice tracks 50 and its peripheral equipment.
Looking at our sample floor plan, the talent includes one host and two guests. On the video side, Camera 1 is dedicated to close-ups of Guest 1 and 2, Camera 2 captures the wide shot, and Camera 3 focuses on the host. For audio, Guests 1 and 2 use microphones 1 and 2, while the host uses microphone 3. Additionally, for this setup, we will configure all switchers and cameras to connect via static IP addresses.
