Welcome to Datavideo Academy.
This video will explain how to record and livestream using the NVS-31 encoder of the HS-1600T MKII.
On the operation mode page of the NVS-31 Web UI, you can adjust the settings for recording and streaming.
Let's start with recording:
You can set the recording file name, resolution, and frame rate according to your needs.
For the Profile and Encoder Mode options, select "High" if you need higher quality recordings; otherwise, keep them at the default “Main” and “Medium” settings.
For Entropy, select "CABAC" if you need higher quality recording results.
The GOP option affects the image quality as well — the larger the number, the better the quality.
Set the Video Bitrate based on the video resolution: choose 16 Mbps for 1080p, and 8-10 Mbps for 720p or below.
For the Audio Bitrate, it is recommended to choose 128 Kbps or higher.
After setting the above options, remember to click [Apply] to save the adjustments.
Click [Start Record] to start recording the video to the inserted SD card.
Next, let's look at streaming:
If you want to stream to both YouTube and Facebook simultaneously,
First, enable both Stream 1 and Stream 2 by selecting [Enable].
Then, choose [RTMP] for the Stream Type.
Set the resolution and frame rate according to the streaming platform's requirements. The NVS-31 MKIII supports up to 1080p 50/60 for streaming.
For the Video Bitrate, choose 4 Mbps or higher if streaming in 1080p, and 2-4 Mbps if streaming in 720p.
The settings for Profile, Entropy, GOP, Encoder Mode, and Audio Bitrate are similar to the recording settings, but should be adjusted based on the viewer's playback device. For mobile or computer viewing, you may need to lower the streaming quality to ensure smooth playback for the audience.
After setting the video quality options, paste the "Stream URLs" of Facebook and YouTube into the [RTMP URL] fields, and the "Stream Keys" into the [Stream Name] fields.
Click [Apply] to save the changes, then click [Start Stream] to begin streaming to the platforms.
Finally, let's look at hardware operations.
On the upper left corner of HS-1600T MKII’s front panel, you'll find the control area for live streaming and recording.
To start recording, press and hold the RECORD button for 2 seconds.
The RECORD button should start blinking red and recording should begin after the button turns to a solid red.
The recording content will be stored on the SD card.
To stop recording, also press and hold the RECORD button for 2 seconds. Wait until the button changes from blinking red to solid white, then the recording should stop.
The operation for live streaming is the same as recording, just press and hold the Stream button instead.
Press the Vertical button to toggle the vertical screen mode on or off. Please note that the Vertical button on the HS-1600T MKII will crop the two sides of the video.
To switch bitrate mode using physical buttons, first press and hold either the Re-cord or Stream button until the pressed button starts blinking red. As the Bitrate button turns to solid red, press the Bitrate button to change the bitrate Mode.
That concludes the introduction to recording and livestreaming using the NVS-31 on the HS-1600T MKII.
