Innovation determines the global competitiveness of our future generations. The focus of the next generation of education should be placed on educating innovative talents. Innovation education should not just be theoretical. If theories about innovation education and innovative teaching tools end up becoming nothing no more than research papers or reports, then all of the efforts would be pointless. The real innovation education requires practical work from teachers who should apply innovative teaching methods to the classroom. As long as the teacher is willing to take the lead in creating the right environment or atmosphere, the students will then learn the ability to think innovatively and critically from the teacher.

 

Because of the government policy of “One Teacher per UOOC Video Lecture and One Course per One Teacher”, we should first forget about the ideal unselfish teaching. In reality, it does not matter how or what you think, the teacher is forced to accept another form of teaching other than standing in the front of the classroom. Undeniably, it is a tremendously high pressure to lecture in front of the camera and be seen by thousands of students all around the world in a recorded video. However, it is a trend and also the future of education. If it cannot be avoided, we should just face it with courage. As for the trend, I believe that the teacher can also see We Media gradually emerging and the students should thus use We Media more frequently to show their achievements and the ability to survive in this competitive society. The final goal is to pursue a good career in life. The teacher can also treat the video lecture as another form of We Media and a way to practically influence the students. The students start to learn We Media and familiarize themselves with the tool from a very young age, thus giving them the ability to adapt to any environment way before they graduate.

 

Initially, the Taiwan Multimedia Creative Teaching Association was founded to record innovative teaching in the video. Even though the current trend is to let the teacher be the recorder of their innovative teaching videos, it is still consistent with our initial intention. Hence, after reading this book, I have learned that it is the guide that every teacher should read thoroughly. The author covers everything about creative teaching, from course sectioned into knowledge points, script writing and scene design for the video, presentation in front of the camera, to discussion of basic and advanced video production. In addition, there are also detailed explanations of production methods such as Virtual Classroom, Micro-Course Classroom, Mobile Classroom, and Remote Classroom. With examples like micro-course package and case study discussions as well as the observation and analysis of technology in future education, this book definitely deserves to be the Bible of Video Production.

 

Finally, to share with all teachers reading this book, it is a real challenge to become familiar with production of educational video. However, as soon as your micro-course video is completed, there may be a child in a corner of China whose life changes for the better because of your efforts in front of the camera. Isn’t this something that we all wish to pursue in the education?
