Text & image: Adjusting RMC-180 Preset Speeds

My courses

The RMC-180 stores preset information on the camera. When you save a preset, the active memory speed is written to the preset.

The menu option "FN8: Memory Speed" allows you to adjust the speed value written to your presets for each individual camera. Values range from 6-18, with the factory default set at 6. If 6 is too slow, a value between 12 and 18 is recommended.

Note that when you recall a preset, it recalls at the memory speed at the time the preset was written, not the active Memory Speed value in the RMC-180. This allows you to set a different speed value for each preset if desired.

Example:

  • I set the Memory Speed to 10

  • I store preset 1 at memory speed 10

  • I change the Memory Speed to 8

  • I store preset 2 at memory speed 8

  • I store preset 3 at memory speed 8 as well

  • I change the Memory Speed to 16

  • I store preset 4 at memory speed 16

  • I change the Memory Speed to 14

  • I recall preset 1; it will perform the recall at speed 10, not 14

  • I recall preset 2; it will perform the recall at speed 8, not 14 or 10

  • I recall preset 3; it will perform the recall at speed 8, not 14 or 10

  • I recall preset 4; it will perform the recall at speed 16, not 14, 10, or 8
